Astra

Astra is the leading provider of private and public corporate data and analytics in Africa. It offers a solution to the problem faced by many businesses interested in doing business on the continent: company data is often non-existent, unreliable, outdated, expensive and time-consuming to acquire.

Astra monitors and collects corporate data from a combination of sources, including its in-house research analysts, a network of institutional partners across Africa and online data mining processes. The technology then applies advanced data science techniques to transform the data into actionable insights, helping Astra’s clients identify leads, research investment opportunities and monitor corporate developments.

Clients including investors, traders and corporates access the Astra platform via an online subscription. With a physical presence in Nigeria, Kenya, Ghana and Ethiopia, Astra plans to expand its scalable model into new markets where client demand and investor appetite is highest.

Astra Highlights:

  • Best-in-class team with industry experts
  • Operates in a sector with high barriers to entry (as evidenced by the long-held dominant positions of global data vendors Bloomberg, Thomson Reuters and S&P)
  • Blue chip B2B customers including Barclays, Allianz, Nestle, Pfizer, Standard Chartered and Coca Cola
  • Strong growth in paying subscribers and annual recurring revenue
  • USD-denominated revenue stream (no FX risk)
  • Robust exit potential to a trade buyer
